The Alamo Springs General Store and Café is located in close proximity to Old Tunnel State Park, home to an abandoned railroad tunnel, giving the state park its name. From May to October, the tunnel is home to up to 3 million Mexican free-tailed bats and 3,000 cave myotis bats. On Thursday through Sunday evenings during bat season, visitors can purchase tickets to an educational presentation and a chance to view the bats from the lower viewing area. Enjoy a stroll on the half-mile nature trail year-round.
