Golfing at Lady Bird Johnson Park

There’s a lot to like about the new Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course. Thanks to nearly $2 million in renovations, it’s been transformed into one of the finest municipal courses in Texas. The course has been lengthened to a 6,686 yards, Par 71 design. Fairways have been carefully sculpted to reward good shot placement. Greens are firm and fast. The course now has 46 bunkers and water on 10 of the 18 holes. Add it all up and you have an exceptional, resort-like golf experience without those resort prices while keeping you active in Fredericksburg.

Alamo Bat Cave

If you are on the hunt for something different and interesting to do, why not grab your binoculars and check out the Bat Tunnel. While you are at the Old Tunnel, you don’t want to miss one of the best hamburgers in Texas (if not America) at Alamo Springs Cafe, one really cool hamburger joint!

Willow City Loop Wildflowers

Whether you thank Mother Nature or Ladybird Johnson, the Texas Hill Country is the home of wildflowers. Drawing many visitors during the spring, the Gillespie County wildflower season is usually like a fireworks display on the ground — filled with bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Mexican Hat and many others. Over 5,000 wildflower species make their home in the State of Texas, products of the state’s different ecosystems.
