When looking for absolute perfection in golf courses near Fredericksburg, our Lady can’t be beat. Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal course that offers a resort-like experience without outrageous prices.
Lady Bird has been a local favorite for golfers since its opening in 1969. In 1991, the course went through renovations to become an 18-hole course with more challenging shots. The golf course went through another transformation in 2012 to become the exceptional course it is today with tour-quality Champion Bermuda grass, new trees and playing surface, and cart paths for easier navigation.
The par-71 course totals 6,686 yards, has 46 bunkers, and water on 10 of the holes. The front nine has challenging and rolling terrain while the back nine is a bit flatter but requires some skillful shots. No matter what hole you’re playing, you’ll enjoy gorgeous Hill Country views during your game.
The course does offer lessons with PGA certified golf professionals, both individual and group lessons. For beginners, the course offers its Get Golf Ready program, a year-round program, to teach the basics and beginner techniques. The first tee time is 7:30 a.m. daily and you can schedule a tee time online.
For dining on the course, Red Bird Grill is open Tuesday – Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a limited menu of cold beverages and light snacks is served from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The grill is closed on Mondays. The course also houses a golf shop with top of the line clothing, shoes, and equipment. The shop is open Tuesday – Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and opens on Mondays at noon.
