Emily’s Suite - Full Description

History meets luxury...and location...at the Keidel Inn and Gasthaus. This premium property is located on Main Street only steps from the main shopping district. Take a stroll to the Nimitz Museum just across the way or enjoy an evening walk to the best restaurants Fredericksburg has to offer. The main building in front on Main Street is the Keidel Inn, offering two luxury suites, the Clara Suite and the Emily Suite. Just behind the Inn is the Keidel Gasthaus.

Of course the charm of this property goes way back. Keidel Inn and Gasthaus is located on a large lot in Fredericksburg that has been in the Keidel family for well over 100 years. The Gasthaus was built originally facing Main Street and on the very north part of the property. It was the first home of Dr. Victor and Clara Stieler Keidel after their marriage on June 13, 1909. Behind the house stood a screened in large kitchen separated from the wood frame home for safety reasons.

In 1928, the Gasthaus was moved to its present location in order to build the Spanish style home that now houses the Keidel Inn. Two historic oak trees stand near the southwest corner of the main house and mark the spot where the first surveyors of the new city of Fredericksburg buried their tools so when the settlers arrived the following year they would have them to start the construction of their new homes. They built a campfire over the spot so Indians and other travelers would not be able to tell that the soil had been disturbed. The Keidels were a prominent family of physicians in early Fredericksburg and served the community for over 150 years. The property is owned by a granddaughter of Victor and Clara and is being operated as a B&B by a great grandson.

Emily's Suite is the charming downstairs suite offering two bedrooms (1 king size, 1 queen size) and two baths for extra privacy. You will also enjoy a comfortable sitting area and full kitchen. Enjoy morning coffee on the fabulous garden patio by the fish pond. Or take a stroll in the evening to any of Fredericksburg's fabulous Main Street restaurants. If you're looking for space, luxury and location, Keidel Inn - Emily's Suite is the place for you!

Such A Lovely Time

We just had the pleasure of staying at Keidel Inn and Gasthaus this past weekend for a Bachelorette Party. I rented out the entire house for a group of 10 girls. Not only was the place so beautiful but it was in such a great location (walking distance to everything)! When we arrived Friday, Jeff the owner was there and stopped what he was doing to give us a tour of the property along with the history of the house which was so nice. All the beds were so comfortable and the house overall was amazing. I would definitley stay here again and recommend this property to any group. Thanks for such a lovely time!!! The Keidel Inn is a major attention grabber

We stayed at the Keidel Inn with 9 women for a bachelorette party and had a fabulous time. I can’t find enough good things to say about the house. If you like an older home with lots of history, then this is your place! Overall, the house itself was in immaculate shape. The interior has been updated where necessary but most of the old charm still remains. The house was extremely clean, organized and stocked with all our basic needs. There are plenty of bathrooms for 9 people and the common areas are conducive to a large crowd. At some points, we had as many as 16 people stopping by for drinks and the kitchen was plenty big to host. The house owner was more than a pleasure to work with. He is very much available at anytime and on the flip side, doesn’t demand that he oversees the weekend. He brought us breakfast for the whole stay and did not return, although if he had, we would have been fine with that too. Prior to the stay, I was able to communicate with him directly and ask all questions. The house does not have any sort of radio, CD players, so something to keep in mind. However; that was no problem for us. He also tells you the history of the house, which I found fascinating. Fredericksburg is such a charming place. We rented a limo and toured wineries. For dinner we ate at Silver Creek, Hondos, West End Pizza and Sunset Grill. All were excellent choices. The management at Silver Creek was top notch. The Keidel is a major attention grabber. If you are looking to host a party and want to impress your guests, this is it!  Kathryn Kathryn (Guest)

What a great place for Girls Weekend

What a great place for a girls weekend! Twelve ladies loved this property! Great detail. Super comfy beds. Dining table large enough for all of us to play card games. Breakfast was much more than we expected. Loved being able to walk to shopping, food and wine shops! Cant wait to come back next year :)  (College Station) Shawna (Guest)

Keep Coming Back

Ever since staying at the Keidel Inn three years ago for the first time, we keep coming back. It is great to have a group of people so you can rent the whole house and the guesthaus. Recently, we just rented the guesthaus in the back and it was wonderful. The bedding is very nice and the people who run it (Jeff) could not be nicer. They treat people like family. The location on Main Street across from the Pacific War Museum makes it convenient to everything. It is a historical building, lovely and inviting. The fence around it, the large lawn and the patio in the back truly must have made it the most elegant home in the town in the past. The interior of the home is beautiful - wood floors, thick walls, solid walls. The flow of the downstairs, with the dining room, living room, kitchen make for an inviting place to stay. It can hold four people downstairs, six people upstairs and then four people in the guesthaus. the first time we stayed here, we rented the entire home and guesthaus. We were so surprised when we opened the refrigerator and there was milk, orange juice, oranges, and breakfast burritos. On the counter were muffins, bananas and apples. Then, a couple of days later, he refreshed the milk and brought homemade apple struedel and large cinnamon roles! We did not need to leave the Inn for breakfast, that is for sure. We particularly love the kitchen in this old home, which has an old built-in icebox. It is not functional, but really a beautiful piece. The kitchen is fully functional and we have had meals in the dining room and on the patio - cooking in the kitchen and grilling outside. We recently stayed here in December and rented the downstairs and upstairs, only using two of the bedrooms upstairs. It is so nice to get up in the morning and meet your family in the kitchen (if you rented the downstairs). We came back two months later and rented the downstairs, which includes the kitchen, and the guesthaus. We did not have access to the dining and living room with this because that goes with the upstairs if you rent that part and not the whole house. We have stayed here four times over the past three years and we will surely stay here again when we bring friends and family to the hill country. Room Tip: If there are only two of you, the guesthaus if perfect. If you have atleast 8 people, rent the entire house or whole property.  (Ft. Worth) Teresa (Guest)
