The cleanest little B&B in Fredericksburg! That's what guests often say of this precious private cottage located in the beautiful historic district, only three blocks from the heart of Main Street shopping. The home next door, where your hosts (Pat and Marlene) live, was constructed by Hans Basse in 1906. This area of North Adams Street was once known as "Millionaire Street” and was the area of town where prominent businessmen lived, including the banker, jeweler, grocer, automobile dealer, relatives of WWII Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz and former President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Lillie Marlene was built in 1941. The name was chosen as a reflection of your hostess Marlene’s German heritage. The song, popular during World War I and World War II, was also the inspiration for her first name—Lillie was already taken by her maternal grandmother. The sheet music for the song can be found on the antique pump organ in the living room. The lamplight at the curb was a "must” for a property named Lillie Marlene. Lillie Marlene is truly an endeavor of the heart filled with warm precious memories of family, good times, and in the German and Czech tradition, good food!
At Lillie Marlene, Pat and Marlene make a conscious effort to accommodate and make comfortable guests who suffer from allergies and are sensitivities to certain allergens. They do not allow pets or smoking. They do not use any chlorine-based cleaners or cleaners that contain pine oil. They use only unscented laundry products. You will not find feathers or goose down ,and the bed pillows are synthetic filled. The bed linen is dried in the sunshine, as long as it is not pollen season. Lillie Marlene is even equipped with an electrostatic filter on the AC/CH system. In addition to remarkable cleanliness, Lillie Marlene offers a queen size bed, comfortable den, electric fireplace, full kitchen, tub with shower, wireless internet, cable TV, and a delightful breakfast to make your stay memorable! A table for two is set for your arrival with seasonal dishes and flowers and where you will find a welcome treat.
