The Chuckwagon Inn is owned by Sam and Becky Higgins, and, well, you just don't get any more Texas than Sam and Becky! Not only are they Texas icons, they are also gourmet cooks and fabulous hosts. The pair have won numerous awards and blue ribbons at the State Fair of Texas for their cooking endeavors and have written three cookbooks including the knee-slapper, I'm Glad I Ate When I Did, 'Cause I'm Not Hungry Now. The Inn and its illustrious hosts have been featured in many magazines including Southern Living, Travel & Leisure, Texas Monthly, Bon Appetit and Food & Wine. Their charming inn is located on 10 meticulously landscaped acres only three minutes from Main Street and offers 5 unique private accommodations....each of which boasts a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace, and amazing gourmet breakfast daily. This fantastic cabin has a rustic flair, and its name was inspired by the mustangs carved into the king headboard. While the cabin may be rustic in theme, don’t be fooled…you’re in for some good old fashioned pampering as well! You will enjoy a spacious den and kitchenette plus a gas fireplace, cable TV, DVD player and more. Your suite offers a king size bed and your private bath which offers a fantastic jacuzzi tub with shower! After a full day hitting the local shops or wineries, come back for a long soak or read a good book by firelight.
Of course you’re always welcome to share some downtime on the front porch rockers. Be sure to keep an eye out for "pet" roadrunner Lee Roy! Stroll over to Sam's covered cantina and enjoy some down home conversation and a drink. You'll always feel like family at the Chuckwagon Inn.....while still maintaining that much sought-after privacy.
The best treat of all at this little piece of heaven may be the fabulous gourmet breakfast you will enjoy each morning in the dining room. Sam and Becky make each meal something to remember!
