This has been a wonderful experience with you for our 20th anniversary. The food was fabulous and the conversation was priceless. We will definitely be back- my husband is looking forward to more time in the (Cantina) with Sam.

What a way to start another New Year! Two in a row and it just gets better. AS always, it was so good to be with our "friends" at the Chuckwagon. Good luck & fortune for all of us with the expectations for this year. Wonderful food and keep the yam sweet rolls as a staple! Yum!! Thanks also for sharing your wonderful place with us. May God bless you both!

The Chuckwagon Inn is owned by Sam and Becky Higgins, and, well, you just don't get any more Texas than Sam and Becky! Not only are they Texas icons, they are also gourmet cooks and fabulous hosts. The pair have won numerous awards and blue ribbons at the State Fair of Texas for their cooking endeavors and have written three cookbooks including the knee-slapper, I'm Glad I Ate When I Did, 'Cause I'm Not Hungry Now. The Inn and its illustrious hosts have been featured in many magazines including Southern Living, Travel & Leisure, Texas Monthly, Bon Appetit and Food & Wine. They have also been featured many times in newspapers throughout the country, including the Chicago Sun Times, Dallas Morning News, Rocky Mountain News, San Francisco Chronicle, Austin American Statesman and San Antonio Express News.
Their charming inn is located on 10 meticulously landscaped acres only three minutes from Main Street and offers 5 unique private accommodations....each of which boasts a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace, and amazing gourmet breakfast daily. The whole inn will accommodate 10 adults very comfortably…but if you want the whole place to yourselves, book early as the Chuckwagon is a Fredericksburg landmark! Read on for more information on one of their 5 amazing cabins....Bolinger Cabin!
Is there anything more Fredericksburg than an authentic cabin with all the modern amenities? Bolinger Cabin, located at the Chuck Wagon Inn, is just such a place. This log cabin was built around 1850 in San Saba, Texas by J.G. Baur. The cabin was moved to its current charming location in 2001 by owners Sam and Becky Higgins. Nine children were raised in this cabin. It’s quite a grand place for two people on a romantic getaway….but nine??? Be sure to read the fascinating history you will find in the cabin on arrival. We’re talking true Texas history!
But history isn't all you'll enjoy at Bolinger Cabin. Be prepared to be pampered! Your cabin offers a spacious den with a leather sofa. Sit a spell and enjoy the gas fireplace, cable TV and DVD player and more. The ample bedroom offers a king size bed beside a super romantic jacuzzi tub for two! Of course you will also find a shower for those who prefer. A whimsical touch is the location of the toilet located inside an "outhouse" which was actually the authentic outhouse found on the grounds of the Chuck Wagon Inn's 10 acres.
Take time out from your busy life to swing on the cabin's own front porch; enjoy a view that stretches for miles; and be sure to keep an eye out for "pet" roadrunner Lee Roy! Stoll over to Sam's covered cantina and enjoy some down home conversation and a drink. You'll always feel like family at the Chuck Wagon Inn.....while still maintaining that much sought-after privacy.
The best treat of all at this little piece of heaven may be the fabulous gourmet breakfast you will enjoy each morning in the dining room. Sam and Becky make each meal something to remember! Your breakfast might feature goodies such as homemade- light as a feather- buttermilk biscuits, caramel pecan rolls, hill country sausages and bacon, omelets, freshly ground coffee and many other Texas style treats. You can bet, you will never leave the table hungry!
